I will be teaching your student many different strategies so fractions do not seem as scary or frustrating. We will be using fraction tiles in the classroom. Your student also made a set for home and it is stapled into their math workbooks. *Remember: Flashcards must be done each night for least 10 minutes. Please remember to sign your student's flashcard folder as well! Once your student's folder states PASSED, they will no longer need to practice flashcards with their folder. Story: An Amazing Journey Strategy: Identifying and Using Text Features Please read the passage and answer the questions attached. Also, log the books you are reading at home and how many minutes. Reading minutes and passages are due EVERY FRIDAY! Writing- We are starting to learn about procedural writing. We will complete one together-How To Make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich. The students will then get to pick which 'How To' they would like to complete. We will continue to be working on finding text evidence to support our answers. We have been implementing a strategy called, ACE. We Answer the question, Cite the evidence, and Explain our answer. The students have been working very hard! Science- We are starting our unit on the Weather! Students will work with scientific weather terms, along with complete two weather experiments. The experiments will keep them engaged and making connections between the weather around them and why it happens! |
